Bedi, earlier against electoral politics, has now joined a party which is corrupt, communal, fascist, says Prashant Bhushan.

Supreme Court advocate and patron of the Aam Aadmi Party Shanti Bhushan has praised the BJP's move to field Kiran Bedi in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
Mr. Bhushan said: "It is a masterstroke by the BJP to field Kiran Bedi," adding that the former IPS officer would prove to be a good chief minister.
His son and AAP member Prashant Bhushan, however, disagrees.
“Kiran Bedi did not join the Aam Aadmi Party saying she was against electoral politics. Now she has joined a party which is not only corrupt but is communal, fascist, obscurantist and which has rolled back all pro-people welfare measures brought by the previous corrupt UPA regime,’’ he told The Hindu.
On the other hand, Mr. Shanti Bhushan did talk about the BJP but he told reporters that whether it was AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal or Ms. Bedi, Delhi would get a “good chief minister’’ as neither of Anna Hazare’s disciples were corrupt.
“Anna Hazare should be happy for either one becoming chief minister as both were crusaders against corruption,’’ he said.
This certificate from Mr. Shanti Bhushan to Ms. Bedi coming on the eve of Delhi elections is a jolt to the AAP and is a shot in the arm for the BJP that is facing fierce in-fighting on the elevation of Ms. Bedi, a rank outsider.
Mr. Shanti Bhushan said he had come to know Ms. Bedi closely during the Anna Hazare movement and felt that she would provide a clean government in Delhi.
Mr. Shanti Bhushan and Mr. Prashant Bhushan were on the joint-drafting committee that went into drafting the anti-corruption Lokpal Bill. Mr. Shanti Bhushan was the co-chair of the panel along with former Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. The panel was dismantled after the government refused to take the Jan Lokpal draft of the civil society movement to the Union Cabinet for approval.
Asked for comments, the AAP said the views expressed by Mr. Shanti Bhushan were his “personal views’.
