A two-member central medical team reached the Gandhi General Hospital in Secunderabad and after a brief interaction with the resident doctors, visited the wards where suspected swine flu patients are being treated.
The members Sashi Kaur, Ashok Kumar and Ravi also visited the special isolated ward brimming with confirmed swine flu patients on the eighth floor. A third member of the team joined the duo as he was held up because of a flight delay, informed sources said.
Hospital sources also indicated that the team expressed their unhappiness over the sanitary and hygiene conditions in the hospital. They also observed that the admission procedure should be made more patient-friendly as it was cumbersome.
They are also being briefed by the Mahabubnagar District medical and health officials since quite a few patients from the area have been admitted here. The team accompanied by Principal Secretary Satish Chanda is expected to visit Telangana Secretariat and meet Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Earlier, Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya visited the hospital, talked to the staff and patients. He also expressed apprehensions about general patients getting affected as the hospital has been made a nodal centre for swine flu.
